HELPING OTHERS DISCOVER A VERY ACCESSIBLE PATH TO FITNESS.

HOW I STARTED…

August 2, 2012, at the age of 54, both my knees were totally replaced. So, ultra-running was over for me and that’s when Nordic Walking became a more regular part of my fitness regimen. Nordic Walking is simply walking with specially designed poles. The poles help with posture and remove some of the weight on your joints. Then in 2020, I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis in my lumbar spine and Osteopenia in my left total hip and my left femoral neck. This was just one more thing to accept and figure out what to do.

With Osteoporosis, you may be advised-no forward bending, side bending, or twisting your spine. It starts to sound like you’re being asked to stop moving—while also being reminded to do weight bearing exercises and take your calcium and vitamin D to build strong bones.

For me this meant learning more about what is safe and how to modify poses and movements for yoga, pilates, weight training (body and resistance) and cardio to keep my bones safe, strong and reduce the chance of falling and suffering a bone fracture. It also, means learning how to address other important wellness areas of my life: sleep, nutrition, physical and some emotional stress and recovery. It turns out each of these areas all impact your bone health.

With every new adventure my body confronts, there is something new to learn. It’s true, learning is lifelong and I want for you and myself to be safe and strong over our lifespan. So, my focus now is Building Strong Bones and A Resilient Nervous System through an accessible path of fitness and wellness.

So, it’s never too late to start taking care of your body so it will better serve you during your lifespan. If you find yourself on a similar path, you can book a discovery call with me by sending e-mail to [email protected]
