Today was a beautiful day for a walk or a run at the Loop the Lagoon event that is put on by Vacaville Fleet Feet to support Vacaville’s local schools. I Nordic walked the 5K, not sure of my time except that I had a wonderful time. The event went off really well. This being my first time at the event, I was thinking I sure hope I get there in time to deal with any parking issues. But, there were none-absolutely none. It was easy access. The event was wonderful. I should have known that Carol Gilpin the owner of Vacaville Fleet Feet (the event organizer) made sure it was fun for all.

The 5K course was easy to follow. It started out on paved road then a little dirt, then pavement followed by gravel, then pavement again until the very last mile or so on dirt as we looped the lagoon. While initially it was a little chilly, it turned out to be nice and warm as we navigated the course. You couldn’t ask for better. I enjoyed chatting with folks I had met from the Fleet Feet running programs and the store and friends I hadn’t seen for a while.

If you’re looking for a family event that is kid friendly, walker friendly, and offers challenges, Loop the Lagoon is it. The event included a 5K run/walk, a 10K tower run challenge, a 2 mile walk, and both a 1 mile kid’s run (5-12) and a ½ mile kid’s run (under 8).
