This was the inaugural event for the Napa Women’s Half Marathon which is part of a half marathon series titled “Run with Heart Collection”. There are other host cities across the country in the states and territories of DC, Georgia and I believe Texas. All I can say is that if my friend Wendy had not talked me into it I would not have attended and would have missed a great time and the opportunity to meet new people like Viviana from Napa and Michelle from Atlanta and Tatiana from I believe Knoxville. It was great to see so many women running, walking, strolling all appeared to be having a great time. I read that women from all 50 states and 20 foreign countries participated in this event. One woman I met was on her journey to run a half marathon in every state.

The day was perfect for a run or walk. It started off a little chilly (@42º), but even though I was Nordic walking it, I was sweating in no time. No way for me to get lost on this 5K course, it was well marked. Great volunteers and law enforcement really made it an easy and safe course. The sights were beautiful as we wound down the streets of Napa going past buildings that were old and new blended together.

What a great event, the race organizers did a great job. We not only received a beautiful heart shaped medal, there were good finish line snacks and recovery drinks. And of course after the event, we stopped by a local bakery that was only steps away from the finish line. I had the apricot gluten free muffin and almond milk hot chocolate, so I was very happy!!

Wendy and I talked about coming back next year and maybe doing the half marathon. It goes down the Silverado Trail as well as takes in the sights through town. It has a 4 hour cut off so it’s doable for me. I’m looking forward to doing this again next year. So, now I’m inspired to add more organized walking events/adventures to my calendar every so often. What a blessing to be able to enjoy God’s creation!!!
